Benefits of Invisalign®
Invisalign® clear aligners are a highly popular alternative to traditional metal braces. Transparent trays allow for incognito teeth-straightening, at an average of half the duration of braces and for about the same amount of money. However, the benefits of Invisalign don’t stop there.
Another noted benefit of Invisalign is the use of 3-D digital scanning in their production. 3-D digital scanning is a non-invasive, painless process used to create a 3-D image of your teeth. It’s a far more comfortable alternative than tooth molds, especially for a patient with a strong gag reaction.
Digital imaging is far less invasive than X-rays. Also, computer-aided design (CAD) allows for an open environment, which will work better for patients that are claustrophobic. X-rays are often still utilized in the Invisalign production process, however.
Improvements to Overall Dental Health
Your overall oral health is improved when your teeth are straightened. For example, fixing misaligned teeth reduces the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. By separating crowded teeth we open up space between them, making it easier to floss and brush. We design our Invisalign aligners with this holistic goal of improving your overall dental health in mind.
In addition to straightening teeth that are crowded, crooked or gapped, Invisalign also corrects misaligned bites, where the lower and upper jaws don’t line up as they should. Misaligned bites can cause further dental health complications, such as cavities, tooth loss, erosion of enamel, gum disease, and difficulty eating or speaking.
If your teeth have too many gaps or are too bunched together, they are more susceptible to gum disease. However, when your teeth are positioned correctly, your gums will fit around them more firmly and protect them from gum disease.
Straighter teeth indicate a healthier mouth in addition to a better smile. Problems like halitosis (bad breath), gingivitis (gum inflammation), tooth chipping and sensitive teeth can stop once teeth are straightened properly. Invisalign helps prevent more serious dental problems, such as tooth loss, in addition to fixing more immediate concerns.
Invisalign clear aligners work by gently and gradually shifting teeth into their desired positions. Made from transparent medical-grade polyurethane resin, these trays get the job done without the wires and brackets that accompany traditional metal braces. Because they’re almost invisible, their transparency adds much to their popularity.
Invisalign aligners are removable, allowing you to take them out whenever you need to eat, drink or play contact sports. Braces, on the other hand, restrict the kinds of foods you can eat.
Invisalign also gives you ease and access when flossing and brushing. Braces can trap food, leading to gum disease and decay. Invisalign does not have this problem.
Metal braces aren’t exactly known for their level of comfort. Invisalign aligners, however, have smooth edges, allowing for far more comfort. With these clear aligners, we can precisely time and regulate the adjustment of the teeth, allowing for a level of control that braces do not offer.
Invisalign aligners are specially designed for the comfort of each patient. Every single tray made for the process will shift your teeth slightly, horizontally, vertically, and even rotate them. The design makes cleaning teeth easier for both the patient and the dentist when they come in for a dental cleaning.
